Polyglass Insulation
Polyglass is a polyester fiberglass yarn that is spun to create a coverage pattern used to build a layer of insulation protection on magnet wire. The polyglass yarn is spun at high speed with the magnet wire running through the application process; this allows the yarn to wrap around the wire creating a protective covering on the wire. The yarn is then cured using high heat where it fuses with the wire becoming a protective insulation barrier. Once completed the insulation allows the wire to operate without issues up to 180 °C. Our in-house insulation process enables us to specify a variety of materials to meet our clients demands.
Polyglass Insulation
Trade names: Daglass, Polyglass, SPG (DPG), SDG (DDG)
Temperature Rating: 155 or 180C
Relative Dielectric Strength: 500 Volts
Description: Textile covering consisting of polyester fiberglass yarn, which is wrapped and then heat fused to the underlying conductor. Can be constructed with a single layer or double layer of glass yarn. Available with polyester, epoxy, or silicon varnish. Typically used in standard temperature applications with or without suitable varnish. May be applied over bare conductor, various types of enameled conductors, or over other insulations.
Applications: All types of electromagnetic coils for motors & controls, as well as a wide variety of other applications. Particularly suitable for harsh mechanical environments due to abrasion/vibration resistance and ability to bond well with various resins.
